What thoughts and feelings enter your heart at Christmas…
…as. perhaps, at no other time of year?
Christmas time, as few other holidays, causes me to think back to childhood, family members, special events around our wedding (Dec. 30, 1972), our 3 adult children, our 12 grandchildren, and the list goes on.
After recently participating in our church’s “Walk through Bethlehem” depiction of the birth of Christ, I have been taken by the earthly and the divine convergence of that most important day 2000 years ago in Israel. These thoughts fill my head. Jesus, born of a virgin Mary yet his father is God the Holy Spirit. Jesus, growing into a man physically and proving Himself to be the divine Son of God. Jesus, known as the Son of God and the Son of Man. And Jesus making a way for us to experience the divine, though we are but “dust”.
He began as divine and took on the flesh of mankind; we begin as flesh and by His grace are offered the privilege of becoming eternally welcomed into heaven. We would not be able to be either – human or divine – without His intervention into the history of the universe and of our world.
By His goodness and grace, I want to live to clearly show that I really believe He has saved me from an eternity in hell, will fit me for heaven, and has forgiven my sins, given me His salvation and eternal life because He loves me that much.
He loves you too. Let’s together live and love in such a way that we prove to the world that Jesus is our Savior and the Savior of the world, who came as a baby and will return as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
What a remarkable thought that Jesus loves us so much that He couldn’t fathom having to live without us, so He died to set us free to be with Him in heaven forever.
