Dad! This One’s for You! (Ladies…for you too!)

Father’s Day may have been last week but better late than never right?

I went out of town unexpectedly and Dave graciously picked up the whole 52 WKP for me (Linda) while I was gone. (We co-write) However, I still had this one tucked in my heart for you dads out there, so Happy Father’s Day – a week late! Ladies reading this entry, please know how important you are in helping husbands and fathers be great at what they do. Dads / husbands who know they are loved and supported feel stronger and confident in their roles.

Have you ever noticed how TV portrays dads? At a very young age, my son noticed this! In fact, he is a grown man with a child of his own, and it still irks him to this day! He doesn’t like it when people say he is “babysitting” his own kid! He doesn’t like to be looked at like a fumbling, dumb dad, as TV often portrays dads!

Does it bother YOU? I am sorry you are portrayed in such a way when you have such an important job as the leader of your family! God holds you responsible and that’s a pretty big task to have on your shoulders.

Will you take a minute to think of your dad? What was your relationship with him like when you were a child? How does it look now? What things do you want to pass down from him to your family? What do you want to leave out?

Our dads have a great influence on us, don’t they? YOU, the dad reading this, have a great influence on your family also. Maybe that makes you nervous because your “dad memories” may not be all that great, but have hope! God can be your example! He can change the legacy you got – whether it was good or not so good – into an awesome one for the generations to come.

A few promises for you!

  • Matthew 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
  • Psalm 121:2 “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
  • Ephesians 1:3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.”
  • 2 Peter 1:3 “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by His own glory and goodness.”

Please search and add your own to this list! There are many promises!

So what do dads do exactly? Oh, the list is long, friends! Ladies, thank your dad, husband, and “dad friends”! 🙂

Dads are wonderful! A superhero in the eyes of small children, maybe even big children! 😉

Dads can be a wrestling partner one minute and a partner to a ballerina the next!

Dads give the biggest hugs and the best fixers of boo boos and broken hearts.

Dads pray over the family asking for God’s protection.

Dads can be rough and tough and tackle difficult physical jobs and yet give sweet butterfly kisses to their kids.

Dads answer to God for how they lead their families.

Dad may “bring home the bacon” AND fry it up in a pan!

Dads hands may be rough or smooth; but when they engulf your smaller hand, security and trust fill your heart.

Dads love their children’s mom the way God loves. He gives a good example of what that looks like.

These wonderful dad-traits certainly don’t sound like the “dads” portrayed on TV, do they? Thank goodness! Dad…you are loved, needed, trusted, appreciated and we love you just the way you are! We know that the great God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ will change you where needed because, even though you are not perfect, you are following Him. Thank you for leading your family well!

Now! Go tell your dad what he means to you! He would love to hear it!!!
