God Had other plans!

Security (Peace) Establishing and maintaining harmony in our relationships and providing freedom from fear or threat of harm through expressions of vulnerability, deepening trust, and successful resolution of conflict.

Romans 12:16-18)

I, Linda, was going to try and stay away from talking about the virus, but when I looked what the next Relational need was for this week it was Security. I guess God has a different plan than I! Haha!

I can tell you right now before I even write, that God is going to speak to me personally! He is funny that way!

Please read the description of this relational need.

Security (Peace) Establishing and maintaining harmony in our relationships and providing freedom from fear or threat of harm through expressions of vulnerability, deepening trust, and successful resolution of conflict. Romans 12:16-18) Wow! Does that hit your heart like it does mine based on the times we are in right now?

“Freedom from fear or threat of harm” – Wow! Can God really provide that for you, for me these days? You may be questioning? What is happening, God? You may be experiencing anxiety and fear of the unknown – all those “what if’s”! You may feel out of control! (Psst… we have never been in control.) You might not feel much security in all that is going on.

In many places people are fighting in the stores, buying whatever they can get their hands on. It is all a bit scary, and we don’t really know for how long. So where is God?

For me personally, I have to remind myself throughout the day. God IS in control. No matter what happens He still has us in mind. I have to decide through my faith that I am going to trust no matter the clammer going on around me. I have to decide to put my fears and anxiety at His feet. I literally have to remind myself of His love for me and His power, as my anxiety tries to consume me.

We also need to cling to God’s Word. His Word is true! Cling to it when fear or anxiety tries to win us over! Let’s take a look at some scripture that will hopefully whisper “security” into your heart – especially today.

John 16:33 TPT

And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in me. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world!”

1Peter 5:7 TPT

Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there , for he always tenderly cares for you.

Psalm 56:3 TPT

But in the day that I’m afraid, I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart.

Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

These are just a small handful! Maybe you can start a journal on scripture you can cling to when you feel insecure, fearful or anxious. This will allow you to read TRUTH during these times. You can read them and know that these are promises from your Heavenly Father. He absolutely cares what is going on in the world right now and it wasn’t even a surprise to Him!!

If you need prayer, would you let us know so we may pray for you? (Email)

Now is the best time to be the CHURCH for one another! Check on your neighbors and those at higher risk. Going to the grocery store, ask neighbors if you can pick up something for them. Security can come when we feel cared for and not alone. After all, “perfect love casts out fear”!

  1.  Can you recall a time in the Bible where Jesus relieved fears of those in “really scary times”?
  2. While you are at it, would you Do I John 4:18. Think of the ways God has provided for you in the past. Have you been in situations before that were frightening or caused you to be insecure? Most of us have. And yet here we are today still going. God is faithful!
  3. Well, it seems that we’re going to have some time inside, or we’ll at least be at home together with family and perhaps talking to neighbors – at correct social distance of course. Why don’t we give testimony to our family and others about the goodness of God, the provision God made for our sin to be covered by Jesus, and the ways he has delivered us in the past? This time of anxiety and fear in our culture may provide us many opportunities to talk to others about the security offered in Christ. We can also praise God for the security of healthy relationships, and we can pray through these times together and focus on the One who is truly in charge.
