How Are You Contributing to the Solution or to the Problem?

What Contribution Are You Making?

No, I am not asking for money for myself or others! What I am asking is for you to take a few minutes to think and pray about the contribution you are making to the solutions so desperately needed in our world or to perpetuating the problems plaguing it.

Now in my 70′ I think I understand what my mother meant when she used to say, “I don’t know why God still has me here.” She said that for many years before she passed away in 2013 at 100 years old. I knew why she was “left here”. We loved her. She prayed for us. We enjoyed being with her. She prayed for the families of all 8 of her kids and for many others in her church and for our country. Even if she was 100 years old, she still had purpose – to love others, to love Jesus, to support worthy causes with the little she had, and to pray. No matter her health, wealth or lack of either, she could love and pray. So can we. So can I.

Our church family is opening ministries to some missionaries for the purposes of staying in touch with, praying for, and get to know them as a link to “home”. Some of our friends are stepping up to the plate to do that. Another cool opportunity is opening up to mentor/tutor/befriend children who need a loving adult in their life. Other friends are giving to help missionaries provide fresh water wells in third-world countries. See what I am saying? There are so many ways to help supply the needs of others.

You and I are so blessed to have the resources we have. We may not be rich in money, but we are rich in love, in time, in being able to share God’s great Gospel, and rich in creative ways to be part of the solution not a part of the problem. Keeping our blessings to ourselves would be perpetuating the problem.

In our ministry over 13 years, many have shared their resources and time to go with us or help us continue to invest in marriages, churches, and relationships in many place in the world as well as in the USA. We are grateful and called to give to those in need of what we’ve been given. We want to be as much a part of the solution as possible.

I want to hear “Well done, good and faithful servant.” when my time on earth is over.

Would you pray about how you can be even more a part of God’s team loving the lost and lonely?
