You May Have Noticed – I Don’t Talk Much About Money or Giving to BIM
We included some clear statements in our launch of BIM in 2010 through our Board of Directors. When we changed from a non-profit to a sole proprietorship a few years back, that financial policy didn’t change. Since the IRS no longer allows Helping Hands Ministry (our umbrella group) to tell us who is donating or the amount they sent, it has become increasingly difficult to know exactly who to thank for their generosity to keep us going financially. Of course, we do know the details for those who contribute directly to us. (see www.thebasicidea.org then choose the Donate tab)
That said, we are sending this explanation and expression of gratitude to all those who are on our contact list. Thank you from Carol and me for giving or having given in the past! The money you give (gave) was not used just for us, but we are helping other ministries in other parts of the world.
Our greatest level of connection is with Martin and Mayte Macedo in Queretaro, Mexico. Starting in 2017 we have led marriage conferences, trained other leaders, and supplied material in Spanish for their ongoing work. Recently Singular/One Collective has asked Martin and Mayte to direct marriage ministry training not only in Mexico but also in other Latin American countries. Apparently those leaders see how God is using the BIM – Mexico team to impact couples there.
One of the reasons this is such a miracle is that Martin has known for years that God wanted them to share the love of God by equipping couples to develop thriving marriages based on the foundation of God’s principles. That has been happening in Queretaro, Morelia, other cities in Mexico, even reaching into some Central American countries via Zoom. By God’s grace and provision, we will see further expansion into more areas as we “pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest fields”. (I would love to have Martin tell you the details someday.)
We are praying for God to supply $2000 (US currency) a month so the Macedos can work full time in training more couples, exploring new areas for marriage ministry, and creating a network of churches and ministries to help “equip the saints for the work of service”. At this time we are sending $500 a month to them through BIM. The Macedos continue to work other jobs. The donation we are sending is sufficient to allow them to take one day each week to work “ON”, as well as, “IN” the ministry. Full time is the goal.
So, as we have stated, we are not asking for donations to BIM, but we are asking you to pray about helping us help others and develop Christ-honoring homes where the love of Jesus is experienced first-hand and His “light shines before men in such a way that they see the good works and glorify our Father in heaven.” The home is our target. Christ honoring families will share the Gospel in word and by example -impacting generations.
