Is it evil or simply stupid or both?

OK, I am angry,

but that doesn’t change the theme of today’s article.

Recent study and investigation involving Old Testament prophets, Civil War and World War 2 era notables, and modern day leaders has brought me to this point. We humans aren’t nearly as smart or cool or in charge as we think we are. We keep making the same errors of judgment in each country, in each century, regardless of levels of education or affluence.

Speaking with a buddy recently, we concluded that “evil is stupid”. Think about it. Those who choose a life of evil – overt, aggressive evil or sneaky, clandestine evil discover and reveal to others how stupid evil is for here and hereafter.

Let me clarify that my definition of evil includes the dark, sinister world of corruption, sex trafficking, drug and alcohol abuse, violent acts that take the lives of other or brutally mam and injure others, but extends to encompass the political corruption that launders evil to look sanitary, all the way to the evil that simply excludes God’s Word and Jesus’ call on each life leading many to live life without His loving control – ytyinh to make it alone.

Go ahead and examine some famous evil people who fit any one of the categories I listed above. Find one that ended well. Find one that looked “successful” at evil or selfish control then follow that life to its end. Start with the slave traders and cruel masters of pre-Civil war, move on to those who kept cruelly enslaving others in countries around the world. Include those who pit one group against another for their personal monetary benefit, and don’t forget to consider those who use people and groups to take wealth and possessions from one group to redistribute what isn’t theirs to try to create some type of utopian society. While we are at it, let’s not forget the evil in our own lives when we lived away from Jesus and His mercy.

I recently watched the movie “Sound of Freedom” and feel now about child sex trafficking what I came to feel about abortion and slavery decades ago. Neither of these evils had a place in my circumstances or experience. In the 70’s Francis Shaeffer brought abortion to my attention, along the way MartinLuther King, Jr helped me face the cruelty of slavery, and now the horrors of sex trafficking have finally penetrated my mind and emotions.

I joined the growing number of people praying for the healing of our nation and forgiveness for the sins of abortion and slavery- the slaughter of the innocents. Carol and I work for the health and godly influence of Christian families… starting with our own. We teach about the hope we have in Christ for forgiveness of the past sins and the power to prevent the repetition of those sins.

Your family – living life in the love of God, strongly upholding Jesus” truths and ways – serves as a powerful deterrent against of evils of our culture. Godly homes don’t prevent all problems, but they serve to give our children and others who see us in motion a clear contrast between what the enemy of our soul, Satan, does to steal, kill, and destroy versus what our great God offers in love, unity, and peace where His light drives out the darkness of evil.

Let’s do all we can, where we can, when we can to change the world from the darkness of evil in all its forms by introducing the light of Jesus…starting at home. Malachi 2:15-16 makes it clear what God has desired of our families since the inception of family:

15 Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring.[d] So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.

It isn’t too late for me, for you, or for us as we pray to our Father God: “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
