Is Jesus a Priority in Life….Your Life?  My Life?

Sunset or Sunrise? Hard to Tell!

The title of the picture is “Sunset at the Beach” so I guess we have to take the photographer’s word for it. It’s sunset. Where are you in life, my friend, closer to the sunrise or the sunset? I know that I am closer to the sunset, unless I live to be 150 years old! Don’t think I will make it that long!

The question I pose is this: Where on your priority list of life does Jesus Christ rank? I know the tendency is to get more serious about Him the older we get. That would make sense, as we are closer to meeting Him in eternity as judge or Savior, but I have another thought. What if we considered Jesus our top priority at the present time regardless of whether our sun is just coming up or about to go down? How brilliant that would be for us to do that!

What if this very day, you determined in prayer to our Father in heaven that you will focus the rest of your days on making Jesus Christ THE priority for your life? Think about the ramifications.

Your spiritual life would be characterized by praying without ceasing because you can stay in touch via prayer any time you don’t have to focus elsewhere.

Our financial focus would change because we’d realize that we make money to advance God’s work by sacrificially supplying the needs of our family, helping others in need, and by blessing those Gospel ministries He leads you to support.

Our devotional life would change because the Word of God would be so precious to us as we get to know Jesus more and deeper. His Words would be on our heart more than any secular tunes or catch phrases.

Our thoughts would be pure, since to know Him is to love Him and to love Him is to give Him control of our heart and mind. Holy Spirit produces much fruit in a life filled with Jesus words and power.

Our time would be better invested, wouldn’t it, if we prioritized Jesus Christ? We’d waste less of it and invest more of it in others or in knowing Him. This is the way Jesus said it in

John 17:1-3–

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

There it is. How well do we know Him, and what are we doing to know Him more deeply? He deserves

no less than top priority.
